Puss in Boots – The Three Diablos

This movie officially makes me want to get a pet catttt!!!

Some Philippine tid bits here and there

I know am going crazy with the succubus things as it seems like it. :P

Anyway, I just bumped into a new series called Lost Girl. The series is about a woman who discovers she is a succubus and how the fae world is. She discovers friends from human to werewolves, to a siren, to a bartender and the Dark and the Light.

But this is not the time to talk about Lost Girl… Not yet.

One thing I love in Lost Girl is that whoever the genius is behind the plot is a oh yeah a genius! Though they have just messed up the whole thing that a succubus is a fairy, the introduction of different lore is so interesting and fun!

Yes, I’m a dork. You have banshee (Scottish), Baba Yaga (Slavic), sirens, silkie, Peri (Persian) and many more.

This week’s episode really impressed me though. They have introduced “Maganda”, which means “beautiful” in Filipino, who seems like a homeless lady. She is actually a batibat, “nightmare” in one of the provinces in the Philippines.

Only thing that I wasn’t so crazy about though is… they just presented her as part of Bali and the person who played as Maganda made her name sound a bit African.

The Holiday

Christmas is close, peeps. I just remembered the movie The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black <3.

I have found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said “Journeys end in lovers meeting.” Oh! What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said “love is blind”. Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there’s another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas’, the worst Birthday’s, New Years Eve’s brought in by tears and Valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I have been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can’t swallow! All the usual symptoms.

I know. Sappy. But I was able to catch Madam’s attention for 10 minutes with it. :P

Michelle Gayle in Fly Away

I’ve had this knack of staying in the music store and check out random singers. If I had a buck, I like to cover, I like the titles, I’ll take it. As long as not known, am good. So I did. I found this album by Michelle Gayle. I always loved the beat especially on this song. It’s not until now did I bother to internalize the lyrics. Love it.

Fly Away
Michelle Gayle

I never really cared about a broken heart,
A sad heart
Cause it always made me feel
Like love wasn’t meant for me
Got a little tired of the lovers
That were good to me
They’d turn around and they’d use me then lie to me

So I’m glad I finally found someone
Who’s gonna set me free
Take me to another place,
A place where I deserve to be
So I’m glad I finally found someone
Who’s gonna set me free
Take me to another place
Take me to another place

The Succubus Georgina Kincaid Series

I like picking things at random. That’s what makes a trip to a bookstore so interesting – just unobligated browsing, serendipity. So checking out an online store plus Amazon’s awesome user experience in suggesting other similar books while I hunted down Eve Silver’s last book, I bumped into Richelle Mead’s Georgina Kincaid Series.

Interesting. Something non-vampire, not so cliché, new and urban fantasy.

Succubus… we’ve seen them in different frames and cultures – from the Jew literature to the Hindu. They are women who take away the life force through dreams and sex.

Georgina Kincaid is one and unlike in how literature has depicted, she is real and she does take the life force away by luring in men and shape shifting and answering to Hell’s payroll system. As once human, she is haunted by her emotions of guilt, longing and sadness. Call her the melodramatic succubus. With friends such as two colorful vampires, an arch daemon, an imp, and an angel and the balancing act of living like a mortal, life couldn’t be more exciting.

All seems ordinary to Georgina not until she met Seth Mortensen, an author who visits the bookstore where she works at for a book signing. Things become interesting for Georgina as she falls and smashes on the reality that she can kill him.
